How many times i can format my laptop hard disk?

I had formatted my laptop hard disk 5 times.My friend told that data transfer rate of hard disk will decreases if we format hard disk more no of times.So, I want to know maximum limit I can format my lap top hard disk such that data transfer rate will not be effected.Hard disk manifacturer is SATA.
Please help me..

Hello.
As far as i know as far the hdd is good (as hardware) you can format as many times as you want or need.No performance will be lost or gain. SATA is not a the maker of the hdd you have, sata is the port type (the way you connect it to your motherboard) the other type is called pata.

um... no. your friend is... confused. A quick format doesn't even do much, and a full format just checks for bad sectors on top of that. You can't hurt your drive by formatting it.

You will not lose performance on a hard disk that has been formatted numerous times.

But at the time of first format the data transfer rate in windows experience index had displayed 5.8.But now after 5th format of hard disk it displays as 5.6.
Could you please help me in clarifying my doubt....

windows experience index is horrible and should not be considered reliable.

Windows experience index is meaningless. It could change a little for several minor reasons. But its not formatting, and it doesn't mean anything or matter
