Question How many used components smell?

Im budgeting a build and wonder what your experience with 2nd hand components is. Ive bought one cheap 2ndhand card before andthe odour was persistent though not terrible. What percentage of 2ndhand components smell? Regards,

It's usually houses with cigarette smoke that cause them to have a bad odor.

I loaned a GPU to a friend for about 3 months. It came back smelling like cigarette smoke. It was awful. I ran it inside a system in my house for a couple weeks and the smoke odor went away. But that was just a few months vs possibly a few years.

Often the seller will say non-smoker. You could always ask.

I had a forum friend give me some computer components. It smelled like burned popcorn and incense for a while, but has cleared now....well, so far as I know since I use that system across a room.
