i have my computer and i want to have another screen so i can have like the web browser open and have other things going on while im in a game on my main screen. how much more power does it use?
Well the extra draw from the computer would be pretty much insignificant(maybe a watt or 2). The main power draw would be the monitor itself and for that you would just need to look it the monitors specs for its power draw, but this will be drawn from the wall not the computer.

ohhh okay it would just be an old laptop that i dont use any more
You want to try and use the laptop as a monitor? Unless that laptop has a video input(rare most only have 1 output), then the options are very limited.
