Hi, im planning to buy a GPU and a cpu cooler to upgrade my current set up...

the gpu that im planning to buy is a RTX 3070 and a Corsair A500 Dual Fan Air CPU Cooler

now im figuring out if i need a better PSU to go with the upgrade.

My current set ups is.

5 - 90 mm rgb case fans(3 intake 2 exhaust)
Mobo: auros b450 pro wifi
APU : Ryzen 5 3400g
CPU Cooler: Stock(the one that goes with the APU)
Ram: 3200hz kingston hyper x 16gb(8x2 kit)
Storage : 1 kingston 120gb ssd
1 . 1tb HDD
PSU: Silverstone 600w 80+(non)
(peripherals used 1rgb mouse pad 1 rgb mechanical keyboard 1 rgb mouse and 24inch 144hz LCD monitor)

Solution
Nope. Cheap power supply and +12volt is 550 watts, not 600. If you're going to spend the money for a 3070 you should be using a better quality model around 650 watts that can actually deliver 650 watts. Will yours work? Probably, but not the best choice for sure.
The PSU might not be "great", but we're talking about a system that currently likely draws less than 150 watts under full load (on integrated graphics). Add a ~225 watt RTX 3070 to that and maximum system power draw is still not likely to exceed 400 watts. Most likely, that existing PSU would work alright.

Why are you spending $100 on that cooler? You should spend money on a larger SSD than your 120 gb to actually have space for programs off it instead of running...

It depends on the exact model and age of the Silverstone power supply. Please list this information.

I see thank you for the info.. so i just need to buy a new PSU together with the GPU and CPU cooler..

Why are you spending $100 on that cooler? You should spend money on a larger SSD than your 120 gb to actually have space for programs off it instead of running them off a slower platter drive or a faster CPU instead of spending that much on a cooler to overclock it. Ryzen 7-2700x is just a bit over 200 now. https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-2700x/p/N82E16819113499 That is a great deal while they last.

I mostly agree about this. A $100 CPU cooler isn't going to allow a 3400G to be pushed much further than the stock cooler, so it would be largely a waste of money, aside from perhaps making the system run a bit cooler and quieter. But even a ~$30 tower cooler would be good for that.

Putting the money toward a faster CPU (and perhaps selling your existing one) would be a better use of funds as far as performance is concerned. Rather than a Ryzen 2000-series processor though, at this point it's probably worth waiting a couple months or so to see what new Ryzen 5000-series processors launch in that price range. Most likely, there will be a 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5600 for about the same price that will significantly outperform a 2700X.

Also, an RTX 3070 might be a little overkill for 1080p in today's games, and it might be worth waiting a bit to see what other cards like the 3060 Ti have to offer. At the moment, it's really hard to find a 3070 near its MSRP anyway.

Thanks but actually the SSD is not a priority as of the moment since i only use it to boot my system faster.. but yes i will take it mind what you said thank you
