So I just took the plunge and got myself a brand spanking new PG279Q in hopes that it would blow me miles away. Don't get me wrong the monitor looks spectacular and is a big upgrade from my old BenQ TN panel in every way, but as feared I am quick to notice the flaws too.
Uneven blacks plaguing the corners in the form of IPS glow and backlight bleeding. God don't you just hate when you just know it's there no matter what? Like you're watching a film or playing a game and you find your eyes wandering off to those "flawed" areas to do a quick study, see if it's noticeable and decide if it's actually bothering you (surely the distraction in doing so is bothersome in and of itself).
So how much should we put up with? I'm aware that the IPS glow is here to stay for now, not much to do about that it seems, but bleeding and lack of uniformity? Somehow I'm having a hard time swallowing it after blowing 880$ on the damn thing. Here's a shot of my new monitor in the dark:

Should I accept this as just being the way it is? Is this what most other peoples monitor looks like? It's a weird thing, because during games and movies, so far I've been completely able to ignore it. In full screen pictures with just some brightness to them it just melts away and everything is beautiful. But it's still nagging me that if the screen turns black, it looks like a whiteish/yellow splotchy mess.
Sorry about the rant but i'd like to hear some thoughts. Returning the monitor has crossed my mind because what if my model is just a "bad draw in the monitor-lottery"? I hope someone out there with sufficient experience will know if my example is extreme or common. Thank you.
