Also im planning on a 1080p or 1440p 144hz. Thanks!

So many people keep using that word... I don't think it means what you think it means.

THIS is a bottleneck:
cpu: I5-9600k
gpu: RTX 2080Ti
memory: 2x 8GB 2666mhz
monitor: 1080p 144hz
[^monitor BN]

Or this:
cpu: Ryzen 3600
gpu: RTX 2070 Super
memory: 1x 16GB 2666mhz
monitor: 1440p 100hz
[^memory BN]

Or this:
cpu: A10-5800K
gpu: RX 5700
memory: 2x 4GB 1600mhz
monitor: 1080p 240hz
[^cpu BN]

Or this:
cpu: I9-9900X
gpu: RX 570 4GB
memory: 4x 16GB 3600mhz
monitor: 4k 144hz
[^gpu BN]

Also, the GTX 1060 isn't a good 2k card, so if you decide you want to go that route instead of 1080p, you'll have to replace it.

So it means it'll only bottleneck a little or more? Sorry for being a noob.

8700k/9700k with a GTX 1060 is a weird pair even at 1080p if you ask me and the GTX 1060 is not ideal for 1440p gaming just as phaaze says, whats your budget and current specs?.
I already gave my 4790 cpu and its mobo as of now thats the only thing i have on the above so im going for a new build.

you could also change the GPU to the 1660 non Ti if you like or change the cooler to something smaller. i also assume you have your storage drives already. sine you didnt mention a budget i wanted to keep it around 1000-1100USD if you dont live in the US expect it to be much higher.

Thank you for the recommendations!! I'll look into that. Btw how about the 9700k? Is it way too much?

personally i dont see the need for the 9700k,
the 8700k has hyper-threading which helps in certain conditions and if you are the type to upgraded rarely rather than yearly the 8700k makes more sense in my opinion.

they are pretty close as you can see.

but if i were you id go for the Ryzen 3700x.

Any of the processors you mentioned are more than capable of fully saturating a GTX1060 (6 GB)...(i.e., faster processors give

Perhaps confusing the issue is the phraseology of 'will bottleneck my 1060' vs. 'will be bottlenecked by my 1060'...

The R5-3600 is roughly equal to the 8700K, and is a true bargain in price/performance levels; with MUCH faster GPUs such as the 2070 Super and above, at 1080P the 9700K and 9900K might be able to squeeze out a few extra FPS, but, 130 fps vs. 140 fps where that last 10 fps costs an additional $150-$250....the R5-3600 looks better by the second.

I'll try to check that out. Im not much a bit of a ryzen cpu but hell its a cheap and highly strong cpus right now. I'll take my time to research.
