So i have a really old pc build having core i3 2100 and i was thinking of reviving it i dont want to spend on cpu and i was thinking of getting a gtx 1070 i just wanted to know that how much would it bottleneck the 1070 like how much frames could be lost..would i still be able to play at 60+ fps on 1080p

Solution
An i3 2100 will not reach 60fps in most modern titles. A 1070 will basically allow you to max out any game, but the i3 will ensure you have framerate drops and averages under 60 in most taxing titles.
That i7 would bottleneck the GTX 1070 a bit.

Skylake/Kaby Lake have a 23% IPC advantage over Sandy Bridge. I'm pretty sure the Skylake/Kaby Lake unlocked i5s are better for gaming. Even in Watch Dogs 2 and Overwatch, games that make use of more than 4 cores/threads, especially the former, the unlocked i5s beat the Sandy Bridge unlocked i7.

Yes, but stock vs stock a 2nd gen i7 is a little ahead of even a 7th gen i5 in total throughput. I'm assuming OP is not looking to get into overclocking, and wouldn't recommend an i5-K anyway, when a locked 7th gen i7 system is generally the same price or cheaper than an unlocked i5 system, and performs better in most cases.

Point I'm trying to make is, a $110 drop-in upgrade will perform as well as a new (locked) i5.
