Heya,

I am going to be building another computer soon to play games better since this computers motherboard doesn't support a GTX970 with the BIOS' it has, so I wanted to get some opinions on how much this pre-built system would be worth with slight changes to one who would just want a computer for daily usage or maybe even someone who may choose to add in a decent mid-rangish supported card for some gaming like I did for this computer.

Its a pre-built DX4870-UB21P I bought in October of 2012, which back then cost $600 to $700 with tax and warranty.

All the specs will be put back to the original, except I'm taking the 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD to the new computer, so the hard drive would be switched with a 750GB 5400 RPM HDD with Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 10 and theres going to be double the amount of RAM with 16GB of DDR3 1333 MHz RAM because I am buying new faster RAM for the computer I am building.

Specs:

Intel Core i5-2320 3.0 GHz Quad-Core with stock cooler.

Acer IPIMB-AR Rev 1.02A Motherboard

Intel HD Graphics 2000

Western Digital 750GB 5400 RPM HDD

16 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM

300 Watt PSU (was only used for two months before being swapped and stored away for the remaining 2 years and 10 months)

Regular LG DVD Optical Disk Drive (used for 2/3 of the years before being swapped and stored away)

Network Card that supports up to 72Mbps (However the antenna cracked at the base input and while it is FULLY functional, its just loose in the sense that the antenna may need some support from say a DVI cable to stay up straight, other than that, it just about fully inserts into the network card)

Supports up to 1 GB ethernet connections

Supports VGA and HDMI output with integrated graphics

About six or a bit more USB 2.0 slots
Two USB 3.0 Slots

Media Card Reader in the front

Basic Sound Card

Comes with the original unused USB keyboard and mouse as well.

A pc will usually fetch more if it is disassembled and the parts sold individually.
That is because it is unlikely that a buyer will want exactly the same pc.
Find your parts in used condition on ebay.
Then filter on completed auctions,
In green you will see what the part actually sold for.

Why does your motherboard not support a GTX970 card?

Your least expensive solution might be to just buy a different lga1150 motherboard.

From all the research I did as to why it doesn't, the BIOS from the Acer motherboard just does not support the card. Acer just never kept the motherboard BIOS up to date to ensure 100% compatibility with future hardware after it was made. I also did flash the latest BIOS from the Gateway website, but that was still just an older BIOS that barely upgraded, in fact, the BIOS I flashed wasn't even from Gateway to specifically set for that computer. Gateway just put the Acer Aspire M1935 BIOS on the Gateway website.

It would have been the least expensive solution, but I decided to just jump on actually building another computer than to have a pre-built system still.

Anyways, I appreciate the helpful replies from the three of you. I wish I could give all you guys some forum credit, but unfortunately that is not how it works, so I can only choose one to do so. x'D
