How much does forced resolution affects gaming?

A month ago I bought 8800gt 512MB. When I installed it and installed drivers I googled and found out that it isn't possible for 8800gt to have 1440x900(native) resolution. Someone on Nvidia forums posted tutorial on how to force 1440x900 and I did what he wrote. Monitor isn't the problem, I had 8400gs before this one and did everything I could on 1440x900. So I want to know do I lose performance on forced resolution? I also use DVI to VGA adapter on GPU because my monitor has only VGA.

I did and also tried older drivers but then I found other people saying that happened to them too.

Can't imagine why. Back in the day I ran my wife's 1440x900 monitor on my 8800GS. Worked fine. My 8800GS also ran my 1680x1050 monitor just fine. And your GT is the same chip but better. Uninstall the drivers, run driversweeper and try again?

I read on some forums people say that their 8800gs GPUs suddenly couldn't support 1440x900(2-3 years ago I think, am not sure), some say they turned their computer in the morning and resolution was disturbed. Tried to reinstall drivers but it didn't help. But if it doesn't affect anything I should just keep this way but I think it slows my pc down a bit.

That I couldn't tell you as I don't do that. I'd try driversweeper. No reason why it wouldn't work.

I'll try that when I find time. I guess it is my last option.
