How much does resolution matter.

So I found the Dell Gaming S2417DG YNY1D 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor with G-SYNC for a crazy good price, but I was told that 1440p won't be different than 1080p because the monitor is 24 inches. I never heard about this before and I'm wondering how the screen size would hurt the resolution.

It will be different if you sit at a normal distance. Even 4k on a 24" is different.
