How Much Electricity Does Streaming Cost Me?

My 2 and a half year old son loves his cartoons, so I have our Sony Bravia wirelessly streaming Netflix pretty much all day long. It's mostly background noise for him as he colors and plays and whatnot. But I'm wondering if I'm wasting a lot of electricity. I have no idea how much my TV is using to stream Netflix and google searches only yield results pertaining to the subscription cost of Netflix - which I am aware of lol

Is there anyone who could tell me how much it costs to stream this content?

In a sense it probably makes like a 20 dollar difference(maybe less) on your electric bill per year. For me I would turn it off because it is not being used. But you should be more worried if you have a cap on your internet. Netflix consumes a lot of bandwidth. What company do you have for your service?

I think Long__T123 is probably in the ballpark - I would have guesstimated about $30 per year, but it depends on how long "all day" is, the exact model of the TV, and, of course, the price of electricity where you live.

You can use this to estimate your tv wattage cost. you just need to find the wattage by looking up your tv.

Or you could purchase or maybe borrow a Kill-a-watt meter to monitor the power consumption.

Pretty handy device to have around in any case.....

Just google "Kill-a-watt" and you find several sources. Pick the applicable model.
