How much faster is the i7 1065G7 than the i5 1035G7? Since these processors are pretty recent not many benchmarks have been run on them so I couldn’t directly the two against each other. Do you have a general sense of the performance difference between the two? Thanks!

Well they are both low tdp mobile processors, so you won't get that much performance out of them to begin with if that's what you're looking for. Both CPUs are 4 core 8 thread with the i7 being 100 mhz faster on base clocks and 200 mhz faster on boost clocks. It really depends on what kind of workloads you will be throwing at these CPUs but for the most part, the differences will be fairly small. I would go for the i5 since its priced $100 less and its really the same CPU but 100 MHz slower.

I will use it mostly for Office, online apps, light to moderate Photoshop and light gaming.

i5 would be just fine for these tasks. Get at least 16 GB of RAM for Photoshop.

You might want to look into a discrete GPU depending on the gaming you intend to do.
Unfortunately the laptop I’m interested in (Surface Laptop 3) doesn’t come with a 16 GB i5 model. So should I save $300 and go for the 8 GB i5 model or go for the 16 GB i7 model?
