How much faster is this hard drive? Whats the difference between a hd for home computing and an hd for servers?

Solution
Both are good drives, neither will be "faster", you want speed go SSD. Typically a HD used in a server is designed and built to last longer (they are constantly on, spinning, and moving data), a home computer does not place a high demand on drives 24/7

so you think i should go for a cheaper solution? I heard in less specific thread that less platters means 20-30% faster. isnt that true. How many platters does this gold have vs the other one?

You are talking about theoretical speed based on lab results. the interface is SATA at 6GB/s. The cache is for writing to the drive , rarely needed in a home application and you would not know if it was being used.

Bottom line, don't spend the extra money.
