hi everyone
how much fps is needed minimum for smooth game play???
please clear this confusion so i can get right component for my system.
i also open my option with sli & crossfire enable motherboard. so i can get extra fps if needed.
system config are :
i5 4670 or 4690
Msi Gtx 960 2gb gddr5/oc
Gigabyte GA h97m d3h motherboard
Coolmaster 500w smps
1 tb hdd + 1tb hdd + 500gb hdd (all sata)
8gb ddr3 1333mhz

i am using 1333mhz 4gb ram because i already have them so i am adding upto 8gb 1333mhz. is this ok or i should go with 1600mhz.
plz ans it in best way possible. because i dont wanna outdated after 1year.
thanks in advance. :)

thanks for reply.
is my system config. fine for 60 fps or near to 60fps.
what about ram thing i asked for ?????

It is not theory clever guy it is sciense and the only difference is in your imagination

thank for reply.
actually i have 1080p supported led monitor.
all i want a good real smooth gaming experience. so please check system config. i selected . and tell me is i get good fps with it.

I have the equivalent with amd graphics card.
You can easily get 60 fps even with new games, you'll have to do that without AA and sometimes lower settings. Depends on the optimization of the game ( like Arkham Knight is f.cked up right now even if you have the best card).
Witch Witcher 3 I get 45-50 fps some ultra settings, some medium.

thanks for reply
all i want is smooth game play. dont care about 60 fps or 30fps or 140fps. i asking this because i cant spend over & over again. i wanna buy right rig with one shot. not over power not under power.
so plz look at system config. and tell me that, is my selection is good to go or not. :)

I would get GTX 970 or better yet 980 if the budget enables it, much more future proof for 1080p gaming with those you'll get 60 fps with everything maxed.
Check out some banchmarks.
Otherwise a nice rig.

Sorry I did not mean to insult you I should have said it a bit different, I meant, some people can't see the difference.
I myself was gaming with 30 fps until a year ago, after new pc with 60 fps it's night and day the contrast is huge.
Above 60 fps I have no experience, but since professional gamers (DOTA, CS) use 144 Hz monitors with minimum 120 fps for the smoothest gameplay, there has to be a big difference.

I would not be realy satisfied with 30 fps max either, anyway fps is a good way to test your system but for me anything above 45 fps is absolutely fine

I game at 60 fps and I can assure you it is noticeably better than 30 or even 45 fps. Now I suspect this has to do with more than just what the eye can see but the refresh rates of the image.

However having seen 144hz that's another leap up which is going to be my next upgrade after holiday. New gpu and monitor needed for that.

It's not about what the Human Eye can see it's about the Input lag involved in going between averaging between 30-60fps. Fps shouldn't be the only factor here most people are ignorant on this, there are other issues here such as Frame Time Variance, here is a nice article on how judging on just FPS is a Fail.

completely wrong. your eye doesnt work on fps it is a constant stream of light and it detects changes in that light that we perceive as change. most people can spot a change in a still image up to 300fps. racing car drivers and pilots can often detect change at 450+ fps.

to fool the brain into thinking its seeing motion you only need 12.5 fps most WB and loony tunes cartoons run at 12.5 fps.
but like i said the eye and brain can detect change in an image way higher fps than you would think.
its science mate based on empirical evidence (proof) http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/7199031187 about as simple an explanation i can find.

depends on the games how many fps you will get. witcher 3 for instance will likley run at 30+ fps @1080p ultra settings.
bf4 45fps ultra. something like cod 4 (yeah its old but still plenty of people play it) on the other hand will run at 90+fps max settings.

as for the ram it will depend. you would be better off getting a paired 8 gig (2x4gig) pack as theres way less chance of issues. but if you have no option then you might get lucky and be able to run another 4 gig stick as long as it has the same primary and close secondary timings. but its hit and miss at best.

nope. btw that wasnt an insult. read the link above and you will see it depends on how quickly your synapses fire. the quicker they fire the quicker you will be able to distinguish between changes

Myelinated nerves can fire between 300 to 1000 times per second in the human body and transmit information at 200 miles per hour. What matters here is how frequently these nerves can fire (or "send messages").

The nerves in your eye are not exempt from this limit. Your eyes can physiologically transmit data that quickly and your eyes/brain working together can interpret up to 1000 frames per second.
