I don't quite understand, what you mean by OC here.
OC - as overclocking?
What does overclocking have to do with free space on the drive?

Oc is operating system.I don't know how to explained because english is not my native language.
More simple i am talking about Windows.

Windows should not complain about drive space until you reach ~10% or so. The bar that shows blue in "This PC" will turn red. I think most folks would suggest keeping ~20% free space if you are on an SSD.

Tank you.i will go on until i see a problem, and if i see any i will reinstall but that time on a bigger disk.

Windows 11. 64 Gigs or larger. Maybe pro takes up more space, I didn't look into it. I install 11 pro OS on one M.2. All apps docs, music on a second M.2.

64GB is a fools folly.
It never ends up 'only the OS'.
Never ever.

In light of todays drive prices, even 120GB is a bad choice.

My pro with just-in-case apps is 133 Gigs. So, guessing at 100 gigs. Some have the need to be installed on the boot drive. That's all folks!
And then you need sufficient free space for the Windows Feature Updates. Maybe another 30GB or so.
And of course, not filling up an SSD.

But lets see if we get some info on how this system is configured.

I am a slave to MS. Joined their program you can't leave without a fresh installation. They are forever sending me beta garbage. Size always varies. Some things die until the next update, if you're lucky. Bad move on my part. Trying it once is good enough for me. Got 23H2 six months ago but who cares?
Guess win11 won't fit o a Seagate ST-225. Memory lane..

Hello.Tank you all for the reply's.
I can't show you pictures because i don't know how.
.II have many disk in my system, but i have a 1 tb ssd which i put the OS.In that 1tb i make a disk with 120 gb disk space. There i put the OS.After i finish put all the programs consider windows i have 30gb free i that OS drive.

To aldan.
Of that that you write it appears that 120gb are enave,You say that after you put all the programs(and of i got you have many)400gb are left of 500.Which is mean that my 120gb are enave.

My question in general is how much free space you need on the drive so the OS operates as it should be.

And i am very sorry for the bad language but english is not my native.

No.
A 120GB partition is NOT enough for long term use.
You WILL run into issues some time in the future.

Why are you wanting to partition this drive?
Just leave it as the 1TB space, and continue on.

Because i know that is better os to be on a separate disk.
And after your advice i will format the 1tb disk adn put the os and white the rest of the free space i will put games.
Tank you.

A separate physical drive, maybe.
A separate 120GB partition on a 1TB drive, or its own 120 GB physical drive, probably not.

How do you "know" this?

But will it be better to partition the 1tb drive or not
What do you use this system for, and what other physical drives are in it?

My system, I have a 1TB 980 Pro, for the OS and all applications except games. Everything else lives elsewhere, on other physical drives.
Currently, about 225GB used space.

'better to partition'....in what way?
Better how?

I use the pc only for gaming.Always my os and application are been fine on a 120gb drive. Before i install Win 11 my 120 gb drive was left whit 40 gb free after 1 year of use.Now i will have to activate the windows and for that i have to pay. That is why is soo important to me all to be fine(i just give you and explanation what was all about).
I whanna know if i make a partition will be better for the OS managmend and the information as a hole.I know that if the OC is on a separete drive the important OS file are away from the rest of the programs(games etc.),
So that is why i got confuse.

If 120GB works for you, sure.

Personally, I wouldn't go below 200GB.

But in reality, I wouldn't partition that 1TB drive at all.
Just leave it as one big space.

Ok tank's.
Btw if i upgrade an ssd will i have to activate the windows 11 again.
I know that if you change the hardware may be a problem.
