How much ghosting is too much on a 4ms monitor?

Solution
Common doesn't mean ideal for gaming. Ghosting occurs at 6ms(BTB) or 4ms(GTG) thus ips monitors have only recently become viable in gaming for this reason. If your willing to accept ghosting then 4ms will work. There may be a very few isp 4ms (GTG) monitors that could do less than 6ms (BTB) thus the only reason I would even consider them.
When you are using your monitor for games or multimedia playback is it very noticeable, or is it something you have to look for? Only you can really say if it is too much, otherwise it is just a facet of owning an LCD monitor.

If you concentrate on a monitor you are going to see ghosting, with a possible exception of a ULMB enabled monitor, but then you are limiting maximum brightness.

When I look around very quickly in games, it can be noticeable..although I may be seeing it now because I'm subconsciously looking for it 😛.
I could look up some ghosting tests and record it at 60fps if that could give you a feel for the ghosting.

I have an $800 monitor with a 4ms response time. Quite common for IPS displays to be 5ms or higher, which is perfectly normal.

1 and 2 ms panels are going to be cheaper TN panels, and while there are expensive ones used for gaming, they won't have as good a color reproduction. Fine for just gaming and multimedia production, but anyone who uses their computer for any type of graphics related work should really stick to IPS.

Ghosting and response time are related. You'll have less ghosting with a faster response time, but it is not the only factor. GtG tests are misleading since there is no true standard. They are often tested under ideal conditions as well. Really want to look at independent reviews for information on true response time, input lag, ghosting, and viewing angles.
