I just built a brand new rig for playing BF4 and I got a GTX 770 2gb. Now I will say this. I am only using 1 monitor at a lower resolution 1440x900 so less than 1080P and on Ultra settings my card is using about 1.88gb of ram. I will probably return it and buy a 4gb version. I know everyone is saying 4gb is overkill but it honestly depends on you. See I waited 6 years to build this new rig and for me spending another $50 or whatever to get 4gb of ram on card is worth it. The GTX 770 is a better card than I thought. I am getting about 80FPS avg on ultra settings and with Vsync on its rock solid at 60FPS all the time but that 1.88 gb or usage is just too close to the upper limit for my taste. I plan on dropping in another GTX 770...

as of now most games don't exceed the 2gb even on 1440p. Most people will tell you go with 2gb because more is overkill. True, 4gb would be overkill but it doesn't hurt your performance. Cards like the 760 are not fast enough to benefit from 4gb most of the time

I plan on dropping in another GTX 770 in a year or so in SLI config so why not have the extra room of 4gb. With that said I have heard good things about the R9-280x at 3gb and honestly if $ was an issue that is what I would get but I have been a Nvidia guy for the last 10 years and the cash is not a big issue for me right now.
