What would be the fastest gpu an old Intel core 2 quad 9400 could handle w/o crazy bottleneck?
Single player gaming?
Multiplayer gaming?

Probably a GTX 750Ti 2GB, if youn can find one at a decent price, and as long as the PSU is strong enough (about real 300Watts unit).

Will that be usefull for most newer games... probably not.

Other than that the GTX 1050TI or the RX 570 will be a better choices but the performance lost will be even greater. Once again as long as you have a strong PSU.
