Solution
1060 is only worth £200~ new. £150
The platform is outdated, locked chip and board with DDR3 RAM that won’t be compatable with a new system £200
SSDs are cheap now £50 or less
PSU maybe £20
KB+M £50
Monitor £150
Soundcard and case maybe £30

So £650 and I’m being generous. Personally would want the sound card, PSU and SSDs left out and pay 50-100 less.

In 2 minds to be honest! but what you said about the motherboard my mate said the exact same but im not sure on what one to buy if i do get one!?

Well if you swap MB you’ll need new RAM. AMD is cheaper and you’ll get more value out of it, intel is more expensive and you’ll get better performance*. But AMD is supporting AM4 until 2020 so you’ll get access to the shiney new Zen2 stuff whereas intel are in a nasty habit of dropping chipsets rather quickly.

Alright mate cheers for the info and tips much appreciated!!

If you are selling things to upgrade, not worth it at all for 1080 gaming. Selling the 1060 and getting a 1070 may be an idea if you want to up the graphics or get more FPS at high refresh rates. You will be losing too much in selling used parts and not gaining enough in speed to be worth it. Losing 30% of your cost or more, then spending money again on new parts to go from 100 fps to 120 fps, not really a good benefit.
