With the launch of the new generation GPU's, I was wondering how much mine is worth right now.

It's a
MSI Twin Frozr II/OC Nvidia GTX 580 4096MB VRAM

What would it be worth right now to buy a new one? What would be a good price to sell mine second hand? I'm looking to sell mine and then upgrade to an 980 or something along those lines (Which one should I upgrade to?)

I can't find GTX 580's anywhere on the web anymore (especially not the 4096 MB edition), while they still deliver astonishing results.

The performance on the GTX 580 is between GTX 660 and GTX 660 Ti, and the 660 is sold on 180$, but is newer and quieter, so I think 150$-160$ could be fair.

i do not think there is anyone who would buy an old gen 580, with old arch thermals that suck etc for 150. Sorry they can just add a few bucks or luckily get a bargain that can get them an R9 280x for some more and get their warranty too with it.

Do what i do, give it to a friend in need if u dnt really need the money. It may come out as rude, but its just facts, no1 sane enough would buy a 4 year old card at that price. Even the buy above said 670 at 120 that is ok, but 580 sorry again not worth more than 800 in my book.

An r9 270x performs way better than gtx 580 and costs about 160.

You make a point. Right, didn't added these factors in it.

With 4GB of vram you could sell that for $200-$400. Depending on the buyer. The 580 isnt as great for gaming, but it is great for content creation/rendering. 2 580's in SLI have better CUDA performance than a titan black. If you aim it at the right market you can sell it for a lot. If you try to sell to gamers, as the others have said, you will not get much for it.

The 4 Gb makes it more valuable. The card wouldn't be more than 3 years old. The 580 with 4 Gb might be similar performance to a 670 or 760. So it's now considered a mid-range card. New that would be under $200, secondhand I would try for $100.

Well my opinion is to sell this arround 100-120 dollars cus its second hand, big power consumption, noisier than
new gpu s, outdated architekture and you cant sell it for the same price as a new model with the same performance

There are some used 580's with 3 MB Ram on Amazon for $200+.

I sell used items on Amazon. I generally price them at a little under the lowest current used price.

Well I mean, anyone can list a product for whatever they want. Does it actually sell for that much? A used R9 290 can be had for 200 dollars, which would YOU rather have?
To the OP, a quick search for actual sold listings on ebay puts the price right around 100 dollars. That's what people are actually paying for these.
