How much is my PC worth if I sell it?

I built it 4 years ago and in upgrading now, I want to get around 400-500 dollars so I can buy a nice monitor for my new build. What is it worth if I were to put it on Craigslist, or something?
Specs:
Windows Vista
Cooler Master CM-690 case
Gigabyte EP45-UD3R motherboard
4gb of G.Skill 1066 DDR2 Ram
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
Zalman Air cooler
EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512MB
500gb WD Caviar blue harddrive
Corsair 850W PSU
ASUS 1080P 21.5in Monitor with HDMI and speakers built in.
I'd give a old wireless keyboard and mouse away with it

well my pc is a hp with a new gpu in it, the specs are
amd phenom 8400
4gb ddr2 ram
500gb hdd
and a hd screen was about 500 a few years ago i think they sell the same thing with a phenom II dual core for about the same price

so something i've learned is when you buy a whole pc and not build one they rip you off, 500 bucks can get a cheap pc that will max most games (without a screen or OS) but if seen 500 dollar pcs without screens that can barely run Unreal 2 then theres macs, 500 bucks is like there cheapest thing and its a mac mini without a screen and 2gb ram

so i'd say you can probably get 500-800 im not very good and pricing things though

Well it depends on how you advertise it. If you put in on craigslist for $400 you're never going to get a single e-mail of interest. If you say $400 oBo you'll get a lot of people offering around $200. It looks like it's a decent enough computer for mid gaming (although you would need to put in a new graphics card and update the OS to Windows 7 at least. Right there, $300 in upgrades, minimum). BUT it looks like you have a good starting kit if you wanted to build your own Hackintosh (Not sure if that's entirely legal to say here, so I am not suggesting you should use it as a key selling point, just saying it's probably possible.)

If it was me, I'd wipe out the drive and then Zero it out and put Ubuntu on it. Someone could use it as a low level server or even a torrent box. I'd say list it for $500 obo and you'll get about $300. Good luck!

I've ran this as a hackintosh before with snow leopard. As for its gaming potential, it runs most games just fine, hell it runs crysis on high 30fps. Most new games can run on mid settings. Upgrading to windows 8 is only $40 should I just upgrade it to that? Or well I not get any money out of upgrading it?

To accurately calculate system depreciation take what you paid for it, subtract the salvage value (if there is any) then divide by the life of the system.

Say you paid $900 for your build and there's a salvage value of $100, and you bought it in May of 2010.

(($900 - $100) / 3) * (8/12) = $445.34

$900 - $445.34 = $454.66

Your system would be worth $454.66.
