[SOLVED] How much maximum memory speed can i use for my laptop ?

Hello guys, my laptop has 6GB (2+4) DDR3 ram, i want to upgrade it to 8GB (2 x 4GB) , but im confused about what is the maximum speed allowed ? i don't want to run into blue screen. here is a screenshot of CPU-z , does this say that i can go as far as 2400Mhz or im wrong ?

I actually don't know, but i've seen them the 4GB is Samsung, and the 2GB is from Hynix ! i dont think this will give any info

It would be difficult to tell since we do not know what CPU you are using or what is the model of your laptop. But usually the maximum speed is around 1600 MHz.

Check the drop down box for both modules in the SPD tab in CPU-Z, because it may have the model number of the modules in the Part number section. Also, check the CPU tab for your laptops CPU and then you can google it and look at the memory speed under memory specifications on intels product information page. You should also look up and post the model of your laptop, because it could possibly be a model that has 4GB soldered directly to the motherboard and only has a single slot for memory upgrades..

No both memories are replacable, My laptop is (HP 15-r222ne) CPU is (Intel core i5 5200U), i know the cpu supports up to 1666Mhz but im afraid if the board don't support it ! here is snapshot of SPD Tab:

Because your laptop uses ddr3, I would strongly caution buying modules from any 'marketplace' sites because since ddr3 is older, the fakers and scammers dominate the listings and there's a good chance what you're buying will be fake. You have a better shot of getting something genuine by buying used modules--plus they are usually much cheaper (when compared to genuine new modules--fakes will be around the same price as genuine used--that's one of the tricks).

I specifically picked only modules sold by newegg in my links, because I've had far too many issues with third party sellers on newegg. The amazon link was just to show the module the OP already have.

Even since newegg was bought out, I've personally experienced barely any issues buying from any seller on newegg, but I usually specifically select only items sold by newegg and not the third party sellers. Even of the almost two dozen or so newegg owned Rosewill branded hardware I've bought, I've had very few issues. That being said though, everyone should avoid third party market places because of outrages pricing on items newegg or amazon is selling for literally half or less the price, like new in box 5+ year old motherboards or graphics cards.

Yep, these type of items are highly susceptible to fraud. Remember, if it is too good to be true, it is.
