I currently have this

And was thinking of a light upgrade to the

I am planning to use my existing DDR4 3000 memory and GTX 1070 video card.

Is this upgrade even worth the money in terms of performance? I tend to play games such as WOW, Fallout 4, Destiny 2 and on the home front wife needs it for spreadsheets and dabbles around with photos.

Also will this power supply be sufficient for it?

Thank you for any advice and your time.

I like the Power Supply , however the money you'd be spending wouldn't be worth it at all. I mean if you have money to burn then I'd say upgrade. The 7700K is one of the fastest Intel Gaming chips. Intel releases new motherboards and processors like every week, your system is still very new!

I sort of figured. I was poking around userbenchmark and ran some numbers. I can see what you mean. In terms of any beneficial improvements installing just the I7-8700k processor and upgrading my SSD to the EVO Pro would boost my Desktop and Workstation to pretty solid numbers. Not a huge difference with the I7-9800.

Still as you previously stated - in order to get that jump it would cost 700+ and with that amount may as wait to upgrade to the newer Intel or the newer Ryzens expected out.

Thanks for the help and steerage :)

Thanks for all the direction and advice. In the end I decided to go ahead upgrade to the Ryzen 2700x. I think mainly for the forward compatibility.

Build wise:

1 - Ryzen2700X
2 - MSI X470 Gaming M7 AC
3 - Re-used my Crucial Vengeance DDR3000 4x8
4 - Asus GTX2070

I am very impressed with the benchmarks on the this chip. Very happy. Again thank you for the direction and advice
