How Much of a Difference Does OCing Make?

How much will overclocking affect the performance of this build?
And also, what are the downsides and negatice consequences to overclocking?

O/C'ing will make a 5-10% performance increase. The only downsides of overclocking is that your CPU will become hotter and theoretically lower your CPU's lifetime by a very small amount, but CPU's were designed to be changed before even overclocked ones break.

Depending on the clocks you will get anywhere from a negative impact (Rare) to 5-10% (Common) to upwards of 50%. (Rare)

It can decrease the life span of a part or kill it instantly if done wrong, so you might should get intels oc protection plan. You will need a good cooler and it will increase power usage.

How does overclocking give you a negative impact?

It can reduce stability on a microscopic level, slow some applications down. I've had the slightest unstable RAM oc and my rendering and folding times increase by up to 2-3 seconds for a 20 minute video and I lost about 4k PPD in F@H.
