Rig is with a 6700k and Asus Z170 Pro gaming which has pci-e 3.0 lanes.
So my old sata ssd is full and I plan to get HP EX920 m.2 ssd which has pci-e 3.1.

Will the write/read speed cut a lot with my current setup?

One more thing, is it necessary to remove all other sata drive when installing a m.2 ssd? Read opinions of both sides all around the internet.

Thank you for any advice.

Probably just secondary. Too lazy to reinstall the OS and all other softwares / games, and loading window with the current sata ssd is fast enough for me.

Then no need to remove the other drives.
You just have to verify there is no conflict between the m.2 port and the SATA ports on the motherboard. Often, one or more SATA ports are disables if using something in the m.2 port.
Your user manual will tell you what's up.
