My specs:
Motherboard: MSI Z97-G55 SLI
CPU: Intel Core i5 4440 @ 3.10GHz
RAM: 8,00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz
GPU: 3072MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 280x Sapphire Vapor-X

I think upgrade the ram it's more appropriate than cfx in your case. At least get the 1333 DDR3 like xtreme5 said OR 1600 DDR3 it's better, and buy 8GB kit (2x4) for dual-channel memory

Erm, 800 MHz DDR3 will actually be 1600 MHz ...

As to the crossfire question, it depends on what games are being played. Some will be almost double the performance, others may actually be lower than with a single card, but on balance performance will be higher.

It will be better to get a better card such as the 290X but don't run in crossfire. Saves you power and a bit of money, including the option to run that in crossfire in the future.
