How much power is enough?

So really - how much power do we really need for a power supply? I'm planning on building this:

MB: EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra
CPU: AMD 3000+
VC: 6600gt (not sure if evga or chaintech yet)
CD: regular 57x
Floppy
2 HD's

Also, this board seems to need the 24 pin connector. How can I tell what the pins are on the power supplies if they don't directly say 20 or 24 pin connector? Alot of cases come with power supplies too. They all seem to be failry small tho. Thx.

Most of the power supplies that come with cases are 20-pin. Most power supplies that have 24-pin are being listed as either EPS12v or ATX12v 2.01.

Companies like Newegg actually show a photo of the connector.

OH, btw : will the 20 to 24 pin adaptors deplete any performance? I found ths failry cheap and pretty cool looking one at newegg:

I agree with the Antec trupower series, don't get any close to the SmartPower series

Why not get a ATX v2.0 compatible power supply.

I know some motherboards can have issues with 20-24 pin adapters (like DFI), while some, it matters not. Probably better to be safe than sorry and find a PS with a native plug to match your mobo.

Well, I have been looking at gaming style cases. These come with their own power supplies. However, since the gaming case community seems to take forever to catch on, they are still shipping their ps's with 20 pins. Also, I really like the style of some of the uv/led type of ps's too. I just can't seem to find a really sharp looking one with 24 pins. If all else fails, I will just doctor up a plain 24 pin one.
