Hi everyone
i'm confused which power supply to buy for my workstation
and how much power is enough for my specs..

my specs are as below

CPU- i7 3970 X
GPU- AMD W8000
MoBo- ASUS intel X79 WorkStation
CPU COOLER- CORSAIR H100
RAM- 16GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE 1600Mhz
SSD-240 GB SAN DISK
DVD WRITER- LG
PC CASE-cm 690ii adv including two fan by default
HARD DRIVE- 3TB SEAGATE 7200RPM 64MB CACHE

thats where i had a psu calculation
dont know know how to use it..
ahd a great disappoinment in using may be lack of knowledge

okie i'm buying that one than

how about overclocking my i7 3970x
do you think that will be more productive overclocking to 4.7 ghz with h100
or shall stick with factory 3.5 ghz

well i'm not a gamer anyway
besides hoping the amd firepro w8000 is there to help render my animation and video
with GPU
your advice is very much legitimate to stay in safe mode..
you're genius iceclock
i'll stick with my default settings

thanks also without overclocking u wont void intels warranty, its better to stay stock if u need still great performance without breaking the warranty, a few years down the line after the warrantys done, go ahead overclock it, but until than stay safe and sharp, also ur less error prone and less system crashes occur when sticking with default settings minus tweak settings, i prefer stability than speed tbh.

True
i have GPU to look after my requirement
CPU would be just for multi tasking
and i beleive overclock is not going to make a rocket difference rather i'll only jeopardize my cpu and warranty..
i'll seek your advice before i make any decisions....

i'm feeling so confident now.....thank you ice clock...
hope my specs are average enough to be a workstation...

do you think
240gb for os and application is way too much
or shall i go economical with 120 GB SSD
save money and still meet the requirements
and 16gb or ram on 1600Mhz should be fine
and i'll stick with win 7 pro for now
as you mentioned earlier win8 is new and vulnerable
thanx i feel more safe and confident now

no 240 gigs is good to have extra headroom, i have a 240 gigs myself, and the 16gigs is more than enought and if u need 32gbs down the road u can always upgrade.

no problem im glad ur happy and feel safe with ur new master 1337 pc :)
