How much ram can my netbook support

Hello,
i purchased Gateway Netbook Lt series Model Lt21
and i upgrade from the standered Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Home Premium, i want to buy more ram about 8Gb of ram will my netbook support it? i currently have 1 gb of ram and 160 harddrive space + a 500 External Hard drive. if i cant support 8gb of ram can i support 4 GB? if i can support more than 8GB please tell me how far i can go
