How much RAM do I need for Gaming

How much RAM should I get in my new gaming rig? I plan to game on it, surf the web, and use MS office. I don't plan to stream my gaming sessions onto YouTube or anything like that. When I game, I try to have as few background stuff running as possible. I know I'll get at least 16GB. I think 32GB is overkill. Am I wrong? What do you think?

16GB will put you at a good amount for multiple years to come.

16GB should be plenty enough for those things. 2 *8GB in dual channel would be best.

Min 8gb, recommended 16gb. 32gb is not necessary. If within your budget go for a 2x8gb kit as they've been tested to work together.

I've heard FF15 is beast. I've heard it can use 16GB of RAM when playing at 1440p maxed out! Is this true? Or, did I hear wrong? What has your experience been with the game?
