Hello,

I was wondering how much ram you best need with a AMD systeem?
16GB or 32GB?

Full system specs;

Processor: AMD 2700x 3.7 Ghz ~ OC 4.25 Ghz WC be quit! Silent loop 360mm
GPU: GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 2080 AORUS XTREME WATERFORCE 8G
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3000 LPX > clocked at 3200mhz
SSD: 500 GB Samsung EVO 850
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
PSU: EVGA Supernova 1000G2 (80PLUS Gold)
Monitor: Asus MG278Q 144Hz 2560 x 1440

Thx for your reply guys!

I'm just asking because i read on the internet on a few pages that they recommend at least 32gb ram for a AMD procesor to work properly.
So that's why is was wondering if it's necessary to put 32GB in the system.
So as i understood it's not necessary to put 32GB if you don't use more then the placed 16GB's.
And that isn't the case... i'm using at is his most 10GB for example in bf5. Mostly it's around 7-8 GB's.

Then it's only the speed that's matter, the higher the better for AMD CPU's?

I mean why not when you’re going to be streaming gaming and multitasking but idk in my experience in my fx8350 8gb I’ve streamed and my friend said it was 1080p 60fps so. But even with the new ryzen I’m getting I’m going 16gb so I’m my honest opinion I’d just scratch 8gb out anyway for your streaming + gaming needs

Everything I've read lately says the best way to see what ram you can use is to go to manufacture sites for amd, and msi. Some amd can handle 32 gb, some are only 16gb max ram. Same applies to motherboards. I might be wrong though. A little time spent on research can save you from buying stuff that's no use to your system.

If you are gaming and streaming, I recommend you should get at least 3000mhz 16gb ram, max 3466mhz 128gb ram because that is the max your motherboard supports. 3000mhz 16gb is enough for most streamers. If you haven't bought your motherboard yet, I think that it is wiser to go x470 aorus ultra gaming. That motherboard is a bit better than your chosen one and is a bit cheaper. Overall, I prefer Gigabyte than MSI, but if you have already got your motherboard or still insist on MSI, go ahead, it is not bad.

Hopefully you realize that GA has the worst X470/B450 motherboards on the market as of now. Except maybe Gaming 7. UEFI still needs improvements but it's everything there so that's a good plus.

All you need Jonathan, is Samsung B-Die Ram. I recommend you to use G. Skill FlareX 3200C14 or any other 3200C14 that it's listed on your motherboard's QVL. Ryzen systems benefit from high frequency and low latency. Especially when you will be streaming and gaming you will benefit the most out of 3200C14. You don't have to upgrade to 32GB though.

Kind regards

Guys thx for all the reply's!

The thing is i already own this system, so my question @ thetiesthatbind2018: is it worth upgrading to the G. Skill FlareX 3200C14 ram?
Should i get this ram instead of the ram i currently own? Would it be a big difference?

Grtz

According to benchmarks you will, especially if you are streaming and gaming at the same time, everything will happen faster due to lower CAS Latency and 3200MHz Freq. Also, if you are familiar with RAM overclocking you can play around with timings and frequency. Samsung B die rams tend to achieve high clocks with low latencies at a moderate voltage.
