I've been trying to run less volts trough my i7 9700k to get lower temps, but it isn't quite stable even at a vcore of 1.21v. Based on my reading some people are able to OC at this voltage, so I'm starting to wonder if they have great silicon or I got crap silicon. Was just wondering if anyone else has played around with undervolting this cpu and had numbers to share.

sys specs:
MSI z390 mag tomahawk
I7 9700k stock
16gb 2666 corsair vengeance
corsair hxi850w psu
gtx 970

You lost the silicon lottery. Plain and simple. If the all core turbo is around 4.5ghz, it doesn't supprise me that it needs 1.2ish v to maintain that. Given that 5ghz requires around 1.35v.

Now if you lock in your CPU to its base frequency of 3.6ghz and disable turbo boost, then I'm quite sure you could get some really good undervolting numbers.
