[SOLVED] How much space would Win10 take in a drive?

Solution
Although it is possible to run win 10 on 128gb, we normally suggest more as it gives people space to grow into.

I had a 250gb ssd on last PC and always had 187gb free on it, but I am not like most people. I had almost everything on a hdd instead as its way easier to recover from reinstalls if you already have all your data. I refuse to only have one drive.

I was going to do the same on this PC but I have so much space now on C drive that it didn't seem to make any sense to use hdd for a lot. I still have a 3tb hdd but its mostly empty. 44gb lol.

500gb is plenty enough for windows and anything else really... just leave at least 10% free or the ssd will slow down.

i have windows on a 240 gb ssd and plenty of room. i also keep other stuff on different physical drives. my steam games, and other large programs are on a second drive while only office and a few other common programs stay on the ssd. there's still over 100 gb left i don't really mess with for future os use as needed

500 gb should be plenty and leaves room for some other stuff but at least 1 more hard drive is highly recommended for many many reasons including ease of OS re-install when it is needed

took a look and a basic win 10 install i have as a vm is about 14gb in size. it's pretty much an updated win 10 install with nothing installed that what comes with it. obviously that size will baloon quickly as you add programs but about 20 gb is a good starting point for windows itself when you add in page file, update space and other OS needs.
