With all of that being said, 429 GB free of 465 GB is available on my SSD. Should the Windows file be taking up that much storage? I ran a couple of disk cleanups and they didn't erase much, which leaves me to assume that this is just normal. Is that the case?

A bit of empty space will also be reserved for the recycle bin...(not as bad as the 10% allocated in years of earlier OS versions in the past, but, wasted space nonetheless...)

You might be able manually reclaim several GB of space by setting the desired recycle bin size manually, if you'd prefer...(I set mine to just ~4 GB or so....)
