How much system ram for Ryzen 2200G?

I have heard that it really doesn't matter whether it is 2GB or 64MB. You get about the same performance, but I have also heard that some games don't launch if you only have like 64MB. Is that true?

would be doing all this without a GPU anyway.

This is sort of a concern because if i give it 2gb then the computer would only use that 2gb for the iGPU and i only have 8GB of system ram. leaving me with 6GB.

Do games require a certain amount allocated to the iGPU?

Solution
The bottom line is if the game will launch, allocating only 64MB is fine because the driver can always use more RAM than that with no performance penalty.

If a game won't launch, then allocate more for VRAM until it will. This will limit how much RAM programs can use before they start paging, which reduces performance.
Most games released before 1997 run fine with 64MB of RAM. The original DOOM from 1993 only needed 4MB.

Such an amount of RAM would be extraordinarily difficult to achieve with DDR4 and performance would be very poor as it would be paging all of the time. If it's 64GB you want, then only the X370 or B350 chipsets support it for Ryzen.

There aren't many games right now that can use >8GB of RAM, but this can change in the future. By the time you need it, the prices for RAM and video cards will probably have dropped back to a more reasonable level so why worry about it now?

Was talking about how much should be allocated for the iGPU from the bios.... going low at 64MB or high at 2GB

The performance would be exactly the same because you have exactly zero dedicated memory either way. All of it is system memory accessed by PCIe transfers.

Yes, some games refuse to launch if they detect too little VRAM, and it's the job of the driver to report how much is "allocated" from system memory as pretend VRAM. If you think about it your question is similar to asking why performance of your pagefile is the same whether it's 64MB or 2GB, only there no driver lies to programs about the actual size of RAM.

Solution
Realistically I don't think people want to constantly be fiddling with their allocations of ram. So for most people it makes sense to allocate the maximum 2gb and forget about it.

Yes this means you'll have 2gb less for system use. If you run games that need more than 6gb system ram then you'll want to be at 16gb not 8gb. This is one of two things people need to be aware of if they plan to use Vega graphics on these CPUs. The other thing is the ram needs to be fast. If you run DDR4 2400 you seriously undercut the value of using the built in graphics.
