So I was planning on buying the r9 280x MSI Gaming edition.
I was just wondering how much would I bottleneck? or would I at all?
I have an AMD fx-4100 clocked @ 4.2 GHZ.
600W XFX PSU.

Solution
I'll be using a 7970 to compare to the 280x in these examples

In games like Hitman Absolution it will be a pretty noticeable bottleneck, but that overclock should decrease it a little

Flick through the pages of this review and you'll see for alot of stuff that isn't CPU intensive, there is not too much a difference

Solution
depends on the game, but most of the time your performance will be limited by your cpu, yes, there will be some games where you still wont get smooth performance. the 280x/7970 is still a bargain, and if your looking to upgrade your pc to an fx 63xx/83xx cpu later on, you will have a well balanced rig.
