How much will my CPU bottleneck?

I'll be changing out my AMD Athlon II X4 640 to a AMD FX 6300 sometime in the future but i still bought a R9 270X so I'm wondering if my CPU will bottleneck gigantically and can you make a estimate on how much frames I'll lose?

With the FX-6300 you'll not have any bottlenecks. With the Athlon II however you will have, but it really depends on the games you're playing. I actually paired that same processor (AII X4 640) with an R9 270X and games were running smooth as butter, but I did see some CPU bottlenecks here and there.

I'll be playing games like BF4, Planetside 2, and maybe Metro Last Light just to name a few so will i be able to get a good amount of frames until i upgrade?

Good frames, yes - But it'll sometimes dip in performance. The Athlon II simply cannot keep up.

Thanks a lot now i don't have to worry about getting a 6300 immediately
