Not really.
The most expensive X79 motherboard is the AsRock X79 Extreme11 an eATX mobo,priced at 450 pounds on pcpartpicker.

I'm guessing that ATX X99 will be around 500-550 pounds,while the eATX will be 600+.
But that's just a guess.

Whoa! Seriously! X79 boards are dirt cheap atm. Gigabyte X79 UP4 with 4-way Sli @£160 and lesser UD3 (still with 4-way sli) @ £140. These are sick prices. Will the X99 boards be definitely more expensive than this?

You can't wait for the X99 because the 4790K is a LGA1150 socket CPU.
I would recommend a Z97 motherboard to pair it with your CPU.
I just have a couple of questions before recommending any mobos:
1. What is your budget for a mobo?
2. What color scheme does it need to be? Red-black or Blue-Black or something else?
