Once a month, i prefer calling them patches oppose to drivers, cause besides bug fixes, they don't do much.... now have 4.3 push everyone's 3dmarks by 500 would prove me wrong.....comeon ATi.......

About every 5 weeks. But their BEST driver is a bit old, Catalyst 3.7.

Any problems with the cat 3.7 drivers ? I'm running the 3.9's at the moment and I'm after max fps with stability.

The reason I run 3.7 is because I haven't had problems with it, I HAVE had problems with newer drivers.

IMO, Catalyst 3.9 is the best

I'd still go for the latest release that doesn't cause you problems. For me that would be 4.2, which hasn't caused me any concerns so far.

I've tried Cat 4.2, but Cat 3.9 works best for my Radeon 9000.

I get lower score everywhere with Cat 4.2. For example- In 3DMark 2003(b340), I get 1060 with Cat 3.9, but I get only 954 with Cat 4.2 (same 3DMark version). This score is lower than any Catalyst I've tried since 3.2 (I've skipped 3.10 and 4.1). Same thing applies for 3DMark 2001SE and 3DMark 2000.

Another interesting thing: I get 100.1 fps in 3DMark pixel shader test and 63.8 fps in advanced pixel shader test with Cat 4.2. With Cat 3.9, I get 87.3 fps in pixel shader test and 77.9 fps in advanced pixel shader test. What's the reason of somwhwhat higher pixel shader performance and much lower advanced pixel shader performance with new Catalyst?

I couldn't tell ya'.

While I do noitce a slight drop in scores, it's still so slight to me that I like the idea of having the most up to date patches/fixes/optimizations/etc. If I was looking to benchwar against GW let's say, , then I'd probably go with the Cat3.9 or 3.7, depending on the benchie. However in general I like having the latest patches/drivers for most things. My neglected MOFOMOBO BIOS was a perfect example of what happens when you don't stay current. CCCCccRASH! Oh well to each his own. What may work for me may crash the hell out of someone else's rig.

All of my games run in Cat 3.9 without any problem. So I don't care how many things they've fixed since Cat 3.9
