I want to build my first decent gaming rig and i been reading a lot about different components and retailers but something always bugs my mind, DOA parts, wich are not really that much of a worriy if you live in the US of Canada, but i have to face a serious issue, i live in colombia and many components are can not be shipped to my place directly.

To actually get the product i would have to use a courrier service wich voids the amazon warrantry... in that case a DOA product would be pretty much a complete loss of my investment and thats something i fear with all my soul... so i was wondering:
-how often does this things happen?
-wich parts are more likely to be DOA?
-wich manufacturers are more reliable?
-would i still get the manufacturers warrantry if i use the aforementioned mothod to get my parts?

Thanks for your help

Hardware.fr publishes return rates due to product defects every six months. The statistics come from data mining a large French e-retailer's (i.e. LDLC.com) database. Only brands that are sold by LDLC.com are shown in the data. It's in French so you may need to run it through Google Translate to a language you understand.

Thats great... it kinda follows the trend i noticed in amazon reviews... radeon card are most likely to be DOA, z97 gaming 5 wich was my original choise was in the top of the list so i think i will go for the gaming 7 or a second hand gaming 5 wich i just found in a local shop for like 160 USD (wich is an amazing price considering new one cost 300 USD). thanks to your response i will stick with an nvidia/intel solution and buy a mobo here in colombia (wich is actually the only part amazon can not ship to my country), thank you very much

not a single video card and most important not a single CPU its seems that CPUs are a sure shot
