How often do you have to change CMOS battery?

How often do you have to change your CMOS battery? I looked it up and it said like every 2-10 years but mine fails every 2 months.
 
I'd say 5 years is a good number although I have had them go much longer.

I've never had one fail every two months though. I would think something is not quite right there. Although....if the only thing you have to do is change the battery every two months....that's not that bad. If it's really bothering you, you can change the MB.

I don't have any easy solutions as to why it's draining so fast though.
 
Yeah. Every two months says that something is wrong. I've never changed a CMOS battery and I've been building for decades, though, until recently, it was rare for a computer to not be upgraded within three or four years of being built.

First guess would be a short. Make sure there's nothing hiding underneath your motherboard (loose screw or some such). Next, I'd make sure all the stand-offs are properly aligned and the screws attaching the motherboard are not off kilter. Beyond that, I'd probably suspect a faulty motherboard.
