The reason for me posting this is because I just won an EVGA g3 850w PSU FREE.

I currently own an EVGA g2 850w PSU which was bought on April 2014.( has warranty until 2024)

Now I plan to do a 9900k rebuild in October and after that I probably won't upgrade anything besides the GPU for around 4-5 years which would make my PSU 8-9 years old.

So what do you guys think? Should I sell the brand new g3 850w PSU? Or should I swap out the g2 with the g3 in October when i do my rebuild?

Solution
Well, generally speaking if the PSU is still under warranty I wouldnt worry about replacing it.
Personally, I would sell the unopened new unit and put the money towards something in the system that would make a difference.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing :). it should knock off £100 when I do a rebuild in oct which is looking to cost around £750 :/.

The EVGA g2 is a top end PSU right? I assume if it was a lesser quality brand you might advise a swap?

For all other parts I wouldn't ask but since it's a PSU if that goes down it may take other stuff with it.

Thanks for the help :).
