I own an ASUS Expertbook P2451FA and have just upgraded it to a faster NVME driver [drive?]. If I look at Asus.com its says the machine can be upgraded to at least 32 GB of DDR4 memory, 2666 mhz.

However if I run the Crucial upgrade wizard, then low and behold it says that the system system supports up to 64 gb of DDR4 memory, and 3200 mhz DDR4 memory.

So I wonder how reliable is Crucial Wizard? And why would Asus underwrite the capability of their own machine? By claiming it can only run 32 gigs when apperently it can run 64 gigs of memory?

There are quite a few cases where a computer can run more memory than the vendor lists is the max. Only real way of testing it out is to try it, or find someone that tried it. The "up to 32gb" in RAM may simply be what you can buy the system with, not the max it can run with. A lot of people run into this with storage, they see the computer states "1tb" as the top option and think that is all that it can work with.

The question is, why do you want 64 gb of RAM in the first place? There are very very few workloads that will benefit from that much ram.
