So I bought a lenovo y520 and it didn't come with a bracket for the hard drive so I put it in place and have some duct tape holding it together. It's not touching any circuits or anything, but it is a gaming laptop and the hdd is 7200 rpm so I'm worried about the heat, is duct tape okay or is there some recommended tape to use for situations like this?

Also according to lenovo forums the brackets are hard to come by and 20+ dollars, I'd rather avoid having to get one if possible, the hard drive isn't moving anywhere as long as the tape doesn't melt.

Specs n stuffz

-Lenovo y520 gtx 1050ti 4gb

-diy duct tape attached 1tb western digital performance black 7200 rpm hdd

Greetings!

If you are worried about the duct tape melting, you could always use gaffer's tape. It is a fabric tape like duct tape developed for theatrical use, except higher quality, heat resistant, and will not leave its glue residue behind when peeled off (one of the worst things about duct tape)...however, at $14 to $20 a roll, you might as well get the proper bracket from Lenovo. Duct tape should do just fine (your laptop is not going to get THAT hot), but when you go to take it off in the future, you will probably curse its use.

Hope this helps!
