hi guys i have a GTX 980 Gigabyte g1 gaming on stock cooling my OCed clocks are 1507Mhz , 3.7Ghz and 1.250V , i didnt mod the bios myself it was done by an expert who mods bios for 900 series cards, i would be really thankful if you tell me the percentage of the risk factors of this modded bios, i just want a non biased opinion. i took this screenshot after playing crysis 3, farcry 4 and running both unigene heaven and valley benchmarks on ultra high

I can't tell the difference other than clock speed, memory speed, and temperature.

You were fine with the custom VBIOS.

It is ultimately your choice as to whether or not you'll accept the risks.

That PCIE 16 @ 1.1 is a power saving measure. In order to see the actual link speed you have to click the "?" next to it and start the render test.

To the OP: I've got a Gigabyte 980 Ti G1 gaming and I've tried a VBIOS by the same author I believe. As long as you don't have BSODs, TDR, PC freezing, etc., you should be just fine. In the future should you start having problems, first thing that I would do is to make sure it isn't a new Nvidia driver causing the instability (new drivers might work as well with the OC). If no new drivers were installed recently, I'd try lowering the core and VRAM clock speeds by 100MHz to see if stability returns. If it does, you may need to add a little more voltage to get stable, or just accept a lower OC value.

well, i have never had freezes or TDR, i have these modded bios settings for 2 weeks now i had a BSOD once yesterday because of some TPC WATCHDOG VOILATION which i googled i found it occurs when your SSD firmware is not updated so i updated it and everything is fine i didnt even know that SSDs had firmware updates... but yesterday on another forum a guy had a EVGA 980 with modded bios with OC settings 1558 mhz and 4ghz memory and 1.275V and custom water cooling kit, his GPU died when he turned on his computer with no apparent reason , i was afraid can this happen to me i dont even have a water cooling kit like him , should i revert back to default gpu bios although i dont have such high OC settings like he did

GPU's are like every other piece of equipment - they can fail at any moment. Manufacturing defects, heat, faulty fans, etc.

With EVGA you have a 3 year warranty at least, as long as they don't find out you modified the VBIOS (which will void the warranty if you don't flash it back when RMA'ing)

thanks, but i still flashed my stock gpu bios back and this is the result in the screenshot , i dont know man i am confused which bios to run obviously frames are higher and better with the modded one . but i am afraid of the risks involved ..can you compare the both screenshots and the one from my OP and this one , tell me is there a big difference in stats and other factors i.e. things that will effect the health of my GPU ,,,sorry i am a OC noob
