How serious is "cleaning up unused index entries from index" error?

Ran a CHKDSK on my hard drives. One of them showed this error:

"Cleaning up 4 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9. Cleaning up 4 unused security descriptors."

There were no other errors (CHKDSK itself reported 'no problems' below). How bad is this error? Is the drive 'fully healthy' after the fixes done by Windows?

Thanks.

File system errors (which is what the Windows Error Checker scans for) can by caused by unexpected/sudden/improper shutdowns such as when there's a power cut or sudden crash. The error checker simply cleans that up & puts it right. Nothing to be concerned about.

However, for peace of mind you can test the drive with the drive with the drive maker's own diagnostic software:

Whereas the error checker only checks the data on the drive, the drive maker's diagnostic software tests the actual drive itself.

Thanks Phil! I will try to run the manufacturer tests over the weekend.

Just to confirm, were you referring to the specific error message I received (cleaning up unused index entries) or to windows Chkdsk in general? Because my question was whether my particular message was as serious as say, bad sectors.
