I am upgrading my computer and want to get a new case ( The Zalman Z11 Plus ) and am worried about wrecking my hard drive in the process. Does unplugging it from its power source and SATAIII connectors damage it in any way?? (Please don't tell me to get a SSD I dont have the dough. I will also be getting a new mobo (MSI Z87-G41 ATX) and heatsink (Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3) will that be a problem!

Thanks!

Does this HDD contain your OS?

Assuming it does, and you're getting a new MoBo, I would recommend backing everything up and doing a fresh install of your OS once you have that new motherboard and are going to use it on that one.

Is the drive your OS drive as well? May have BSOD problems if you are planning on moving to a new mobo without a fresh Windows install (different components between mobo manufacturers). Depending on version of Windows it might not like being activated (if you do reinstall) on a different mobo.

Do you have the OS disk and activation key? You're going to need those when the time comes.
