Hey guys so I'm trying to figure out the best way to setup my storage to work with my motherboard. I'm not sure if this means that i need that extra hyper m.2 x16 card for me to be able to setup multiple SSD. The motherboard I have is a Asus Prime Z370-A and I'm trying to storage I'm trying to configure with it is :
1. Samsung 960 EVO Series 1TB PCIe NVME M.2 Internal SSD
2. WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB PC SSD - SATA III 6/GB/s 2.5'' SSD
3. Seagate 10TB IronWolf NAS SATA Hard Drive 6Gb/s 256MB cache 3.5'' Internal Hard Drive
This is what I see on the description for the motherboard:
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8) *
1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode)
* For 2 SSD on CPU support, install a Hyper M.2 X16 card (sold separately) into the PCIeX16_2 slot, enable this card under BIOS settings.
** For 3 SSD on CPU support, install a Hyper M.2 X16 card (sold separately) into the PCIeX16_1 slot, enable this card under BIOS settings.
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA mode & X4 PCIE mode)*1
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE mode only)*2
*1. The M.2_1 socket shares SATA_1 port when use M.2 SATA mode device. Adjust BIOS settings to use a SATA device.
*2. The M.2_2 socket shares SATA_56 ports when use M.2 PCIE mode device in X4 mode. Adjust BIOS settings to use M.2 PCIE devices in X4 mode.
Will i need to buy one of these hyper m.2 x 16 cards to support the storage I'm trying to setup or is there a way I can set it up so everthing runs smooth without needing this extra card?
