You major problem is getting routers and switches that actually support it. A switch is fairly easy a router is much harder because in addition to supporting vlan tags it must actually be able to support mulitple subnets. Generally you are going to need equpment used in small business. But as stated above you need to do some study you will get a mess if you do not set this stuff up correctly.
