How strong is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO?

I just want to know the comparison between the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO to like a Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite 120

The 212 EVO is decent but can't keep up with, for example, a 7700k if you plan to OC. Its an old design, surpassed by many other coolers in the same price range. The Cryorig H1, H7, Deepcool GAMMAX, are all better coolers. 120mm AIOs are a waste of money they have no benefits over a good air cooler.

Not a whole lot different, 120mm radiators aren't that strong. the Lite 120 should definitely provide better temps everywhere, but not by a significant margin.

Does it work well for an intel i5 8400? Thats what I am buying

Perfectly fine, you can't overclock that CPU.

Cryorig H7, gammax 400, hyper212 etc are all around 140w coolers. As is the master lite 120. The i5-8400 is about 100w peak. Simply, no matter how hard you push that cpu, any of the above range coolers won't max out, you'll be closer to @70-75°C under extreme stress test, gaming temps will be closer to 50-55°C. Provided you have at least adequate case airflow.
